Serves as a member of a division team providing programs and services designed to improve the quality of life of City residents.
Provides and updates City informational resources and guides.
Monitors legislation affecting assigned program area; makes recommendations as needed to City departments and City Council.
Oversees day-to-day program operations.
Provides program information and referrals to residents.
Conducts meetings with community groups, employers, service providers, local businesses and/or members of the community.
Serves as liaison to citizen advisory bodies; works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Develops and implements program marketing and outreach strategies, including print media, for City-wide public events.
Coordinates training and workshops for youth, parents, volunteers, community members and staff.
Plans, coordinates and implements special events.
Performs outreach/public speaking activities to promote programs and city services in the community.
Maintains accurate financial records and program documentation.
Assists with development, administration and monitoring of program budget.
Prepares written and statistical reports.
May research grant opportunities and write grant proposals.
Hires, trains and assigns work to interns and volunteers; may supervise support staff.
Participates in meetings as required within department and city.
Represents the City of Sunnyvale at regional and local meetings.
Performs other related duties as required.
Within my role as the City's Child Care Coordinator I combine many of the tasks above as well as coordinate continuing education for providers through UC Davis Extension, organize the Annual Child Care Provider Appreciation Tour, serve as the staff liaison to the Sunnyvale Family Child Care Provider Network and provide information, referral and support to child care providers.
